Kitchen Worktops Frequently Asked Questions

London Kitchen Worktops worktops provides a range of different materials, from laminate to luxury materials such as granite, Quartz, Marble and Dekton. Our Quartz worktops are perfect for every home and are available in 19 dramatic colours and effects. Our advanced engineering process combines the natural beauty of stone with all the benefits of modern technology.

While quartz is heat-resistant, we don’t recommend going out of your way to test its limits. Placing hot pans on quartz (or any countertop material, for that matter) can leave burn marks.

Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites usually have a medium- to coarse-grained texture. Occasionally some individual crystals (phenocrysts) are larger than the groundmass, in which case the texture is known as porphyritic. A granitic rock with a porphyritic texture is sometimes known as a porphyry. Granites can be pink to gray in color, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy. By definition, granite has a color index (the percentage of the rock made up of dark minerals) of less than 25%. Outcrops of granite tend to form tors and rounded massifs. Granites sometimes occur in circular depressions surrounded by a range of hills, formed by the metamorphic aureole or hornfels. Granite is usually found in the continental plates of the Earth’s crust.

Consumer Reports found that Dekton is great at resisting abrasion, staining, heat, and cuts. Home Depot goes a step further, calling it “completely scratch resistant” and claiming it “cannot be scorched or stained.” It also stands up to water and UV rays, making it a great choice for outdoor kitchens and dining areas

Quartz countertops do stain, just not as easily as granite or marble. Take proper precautions by avoiding spills and cleaning them up quickly when they do happen.

We will obtain exact measurements when we template your worktop but we will be able to give you a costing on approximate measurements before that. We can arrange for a site visit before templating if necessary. 30% Advanced payment required before placing your order.

Cleaners like bleach, ammonia, citrus, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide are harsh on marble and will cause permanent damage. Using only a sponge with hot water for regular cleaning and a high-quality marble cleaner occasionally is enough to keep your marble countertop clean and beautiful.

For marble kitchen countertops, however, we recommends sticking with white marble. Because acid etching leaves a whitish mark, it is much more noticeable on colored marble than on white marble.

Acid Resistance: Dekton is impervious to acid. Heat Resistance: Hot pans are no match for Dekton and can be directly placed onto its surface. UV Resistance: Ultra-resistant to UV sunlight, Dekton is the perfect choice for outdoor kitchen applications.

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth’s continental crust, after feldspar. It is made up of a continuous framework of SiO4 silicon oxygen tetrahedra, with each oxygen being shared between two tetrahedra, giving an overall formula SiO2. There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones. Especially in Europe and the Middle East, varieties of quartz have been since antiquity the most commonly used minerals in the making of jewelry and hardstone carvings..

Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Geologists use the term “marble” to refer to metamorphosed limestone; however stonemasons use the term more broadly to encompass unmetamorphosed limestone.

Thanks to its low porosity, Our Dekton worktops in West London are completely waterproof against liquids. Water glides smoothly over the surface without ever penetrating. This, along with unchanging beauty, results in extremely easy cleaning.
